16 jobs lost as Derbyshire firm shuts haulage business

Ilkeston logistics firm Heanor Haulage is to close its haulage arm to concentrate on warehousing, in a move that will see 16 jobs.

Auctioneer Malcolm Harrison held a two day sale of lorries on Thursday and Friday last week, as well as its customer base and intellectual property.

Director of the heavy haulage firm David Smitham is reported as saying: “The company is ceasing trading as a haulage company but continuing to diversify into other markets.

“In a nutshell, it’s hard work to make money. It’s not all planned out but the fleet comes off the road at the end of February.”

Heanor Haulage was established in 1934 as Heanor Coal and Haulage Company
