Hinckley & Rugby Building Society has appointed two new non-executive directors to its board.

The arrival of Barbara Mellish and Nemone Wynn-Evans means there are now an equal number of female and male non-execs.

Wynn-Evans and Mellish join fellow non-execs Geneane Bell, David Woodward, Gary Wilkinson and chairman Colin Franklin.

Mellish is a qualified risk manager and had a 30-year career at Barclays before joining the not-for-profit side of banking at UK Payments as director of payments integrity and security for the UK’s banking infrastructure. In this role she worked alongside the Bank of England, the Financial Conduct Authority and the Prudential Regulation Authority.

Mellish said: “I’m delighted and very proud to join the board of Hinckley & Rugby. The Society has a very interesting history and a progressive track record. It is a hugely important local institution for its members.”

Wynn-Evans’ background is in the equity capital markets sector of the City of London, including as a former finance director on the main board of a stock exchange. She also holds non-executive positions at a mutual friendly society in the savings and insurance sector and on the board of the commercial subsidiary of Coventry University.

she said: “I feel very privileged to join the board at Hinckley & Rugby, a Society with such a proud mutual heritage. I hope Hinckley & Rugby’s members will benefit from my commitment to mutuality and the new perspectives on current and future developments in the sector that Barbara and I can bring to the team.”

Colin Franklin said: “It bodes very well for the future governance of the Society that we have appointed two new non-executive directors of such a high calibre and with such extensive and relevant experience.

“Having a gender balance in this team is a real plus too. It reflects our customer base and we very much look forward to working with Barbara and Nemone to help guide the Society in the coming years.”
