30 jobs to be created at Derbyshire logistics firm

Up to 30 jobs could be created at a Derbyshire logistics firm after it announced a move into a 20,000 sq ft warehouse in Riddings.

Silver X Logistics has quadrupled its capacity because of the relocation and now has a much larger transport yard, according to its managing director Gavin Burgess, which will create office and warehouse jobs.

Burgess has a successful track record in building up logistics firms. In 2006, he started Burgess Logistics (UK) which he grew to a £3m business before merging it with another company. He withdrew from that venture is 2013 after taking it to around the £10m turnover mark boasting 150 staff.

Silver X Logistics, he says, will adopt a family mentality that is “focused on delivering exceptional service in the fields of courier, road haulage, warehousing, ecommerce fulfilment and outsourced planning”.

The firm currently has revenues of around £1.5m annually.

Burgess told TheBusinessDesk.com: “We’re looking double our turnover by the end of 2018 and reach £5m by 2020.

“Both my business partner and I are reinvesting into the business, its staff and local charities.

“Our business plan involves working closely with local charities, donating a percentage of profits each year as well as offering free/discounted services where possible.”
