5 things to do in the East Midlands this weekend

West Side Story
The classic story following the lives of Tony and Maria takes to the stage at Nottingham’s Theatre Royal this weekend. Set in mid-1950s New York, West Side Story is the brilliant retelling of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, exploring the rivalry between the Jets and the Sharks. Castle Rock Brewery Beer Festival
Castle Rock Brewery in Nottingham are celebrating 40 years this Saturday by hosting a beer festival. The event will offer locals over 100 casks, keg, bottled and canned beers alongside a wide range of street food and family activities. A Tale of Two Cities Tour
Head along to Nottingham Castle Gatehouse from 10.30am on Saturday to take part in the Tale of Two Cities Tour. The 90-minute-long tour, led by Blue Badge guides, will give you the opportunity to stroll through 1000 years of history, learning everything from lace, literature, caves, rebellion, Robin Hood and how Nottingham has become the city it is today. The Graduate
The iconic characters from Charles Webb’s book and classic film The Graduate are set to take to the stage this weekend at Leicester’s Curve Theatre. The coming-of-age story follows Benjamin, who returns home from college unsure of what his next step will be. Paddle In The Park
Holme Pierrepont Country Park is kicking off their 2017 season this weekend with their Paddle in the Park event. There will be a huge amount of activities for the whole gang to get involved in, including paddling, water and land workshops and white water racing.
