Derbyshire stone supplier enters administration

Pisani, the Derbyshire supplier of stone to the construction industry, has gone into administration.

The firm, which had an outlet in Whatstandwell, Derbyshire, has appointed Deloitte as administrators.

Pisani has suffered badly in recent years, but, according to its latest accounts for the year ending 31 December 2015, directors believed they had turned the firm around. Profits for the year were £729,203 – up from a loss of nearly £1.2m in 2014, while turnover increased by 78% to nearly £10m.

The accounts show that for the first four months of 2016, Pisani was trading on budget, that the firm was ready to diversify its product range, and that it was uncertain of the effects of Brexit.

Money owed to creditors stood at just over £4m, and at the time the firm employed 49 people.
