5 things to do in the East Midlands this weekend

Dinosaurs of China
Dinosaurs of China arrive in Nottingham this weekend. The world-exclusive exhibition, which is in Europe for the first time, is taking place at Wollaton Hall and Nottingham Lakeside Arts. The exhibition brings to life the story of how dinosaurs evolved and features fossils and specimens that have never been seen outside of Asia before. Find out more here.

The East Midlands Flower Show
The East Midlands Flower Show returns for its second year this weekend. Taking place at on the grounds of Newstead Abbey, the event will give visitors the chance to walk through the show gardens that have been designed by local nurseries, colleges and landscapers. There will also be stalls for you to browse, local food and drink to enjoy and plenty of activities taking place in the kids zone. Find out more here.

The Vintage Carnival
Head along to Leicester Racecourse this weekend for the Vintage Carnival. The event on Saturday will be fun for the whole family, with vintage stalls to take a look at, live music and dancing, street food and pop-up bars to enjoy as well as afternoon tea and a classic car display. British Canoeing Sprint Regatta
Sprint racing is one of only two canoeing events that are included in the Olympic Games, and they are coming to Nottinghamshire this weekend. Take a picnic along to Holme Pierrepont Country Park in Nottinghamshire on both Saturday and Sunday and enjoy watching the competitors race against each other on the lake. Find out more here.

Wollaton Arts Festival
Wollaton Arts Festival kicks off this weekend. The festival is taking place at venues across the area, with the aim of celebrating all that is good about the area of the city and the people who live there. There will be activities for all the family to get involved in across the festival, which takes place until July 16, as well as an art display which has been created by local children for you to have a look at.
