Sports Direct owner in £14m legal wrangle, says report
Mike Ashley, the owner of Shirebrook-based Sports Direct, is being sued by former investment banker Jeff Blue over a £15m deal he made in a pub, according to reports in the Financial Times.
Blue says that Ashley promised to pay him £15m if he could double the Sports Direct share price to £8 per share within three years.
The report claims that Ashley paid Blue a “discretionary bonus” of £1m in May 2014, but that Blue believes he is still owed £14m.
Ashley is calling the allegations “extremely vague” and is denying any agreement was made.
