Blueprint submits plans for Fruit Market development

An outline planning application has been submitted by developer Blueprint to build 43 residential units in the Sneinton area of Nottingham.

The development, called The Fruit Market, will be made up of townhouses and apartments ranging in height from 2 to 4 storeys.

The site is situated to the northwest of Sneinton Market near the leisure centre.

Blueprint is dubbing the homes ‘customisable housing’, where upon the purchase of a plot, the owner can negotiate with the architect and neighbouring community to design aspects which differ from the initial plans. They’ll even be able to organise other architects to take over along with choosing their own preferred contractors.

Alec Hamlin, development manager at Blueprint, said: “Fruit Market is slightly different to our typical residential developments. The customer gets involved in the project at an early stage, prior to detailed planning application, and so can shape the design of their home, both internally and externally.

“We’ve been marketing the project concept for around 12 months and have been really pleased with the response. We have fully reserved the first phase of the development with reservations now also coming in for the second phase.

“It’s an important project for the Sneinton Market area. Blueprint have taken an interest in this area for many years now. There has been lots of investment channelled into the area and it feels like it’s transitioning into quite a creative, arty bit of Nottingham – I think the response we’ve had to Fruit Market shows the appeal of the area.”
