Traffic alert: Hour-long delays on M1 in Northants

Highways England is reporting long delays of at least 60 minutes on the M1 southbound in Northamptonshire between J19 and J16.

This is due to an earlier collision incident between J17 and J16 where lanes 1 & 2 (of 3) were closed for some time. All lanes re-opened at 4pm this afternoon. The delays are affecting M45 eastbound traffic intending to merge onto the M1 southbound.

Highways England says motorists may wish to consider alternative routes and should allow extra time for their journeys.
