Traffic alert: changes to Nottingham city centre junctions

The closure of the Broadmarsh Bus Station yesterday (10 July) has brought about a number of significant traffic flow changes in Nottingham city centre.
Instead of traffic lights at the junction of Middle Hill and Canal Street, Give Way signs are now present, so traffic travelling westbound on Canal Street must now give way to traffic coming down Middle Hill. There are signs prior to the lights advising of a new layout. Nottingham City Council says drivers are strongly urged to pay attention to this new layout.
In April, Nottingham City Council announced changes to a series of junctions around Broadmarsh, including at Canal Street, as part of its bid to improve traffic and pedestrian movements in preparation for the next stages of the Broadmarsh regeneration programme.
These changes include the widening of London Road to three lanes at the London Road roundabout; building a feeder rank for taxis at Queensbridge Road/Sheriffs Way; and increasing the size of the pedestrian island and reducing the number of westbound lanes to two in line with the rest of Canal Street.
