Mazars trainees with Alistair Wesson (centre) and his team

Mazars, the accountancy and advisory firm, has welcomed this year’s intake of 12 East Midlands trainees to its Leicester and Nottingham offices.

The new trainees will be taking up roles across the Audit, Consulting and Tax teams, and are part of a nationwide intake of 195 trainees, drawn from 25 countries.

The trainees began their journey at the Mazars’ annual “Ignite” welcome conference, and will receive intensive training as they begin their studies towards their professional qualifications including AAT, ACA, ACCA, ATT, CFAB, CII, ICAS, AFA and IIA. Their respective trainee programmes will enable them to work across a range of clients and to develop the range of skills that will set them up for long and successful careers.

Alistair Wesson, East Midlands managing partner, said: “I am delighted to welcome our 2017 intake. We place huge value on a trainee programme and want their time with us to count.

“Delivering outstanding quality to our clients is at the heart of everything we do and our people are key to making this happen, and I am sure that our new trainees will be valuable assets to the teams they are joining and to the clients they will be working with.”

Ian Wrightson, partner and head of people and culture at Mazars, said: “On behalf of our 1,800 colleagues in the UK, I offer a warm welcome to our new trainees across the business. Each will have a fantastic opportunity to pursue a successful and fulfilling career path, including international assignments and the chance to work with a truly diverse mix of clients. I am sure that our new trainees will be valuable assets to the teams they join and to our clients, and make their time with Mazars count.”

Audit, tax and consulting firm RSM has announced the appointment of eight new trainees in its East Midlands offices in Leicester and Nottingham.

Irfan Patel, Meera Gokani and Zara Benning join the firm’s Leicester team in Grove Park, while Hannah Smith, Ayesha Rashid, Grace Clark, Harriet Hahn and Jake Lyons will be based in the firm’s central Nottingham office on Tollhouse Hill.

The new recruits are among 288 new graduates and school leavers being taken on by the firm this year, bringing RSM’s total headcount to over 3,600 people across the UK.

The new starters will begin their careers within the firm’s tax, audit, corporate finance, risk, restructuring advisory, financial reporting and IT teams.

After completing an intensive internal training course, the recruits will commence study towards their professional accountancy qualifications.

Richard King, RSM’s office managing partner in Nottingham, said: “I am delighted to welcome all of our new recruits to RSM.

“Our future growth ambitions in the East Midlands rely on attracting and developing new talent across all areas of our business. That so many graduates and school leavers have chosen to begin their careers with us is, I hope, a reflection of the training support and the career opportunities that we can offer as a firm.”
