A software firm is set to create 500 jobs in Lougborough after revealing it is set to move to the new Loughborough University Science and Enterprise Park.

According to reports in the Loughborough Echo, The Access Group will set up an East Midlands hub at the Park. The firm turned over £102m last year and has 14 offices and 1,290 staff. It already employs 230 people at Ashby Road in Loughborough.

The report says that The Access Group is looking to move to the new hub in October 2019, from where it would employ around 1,000 people – creating 500 jobs. Half of the company’s global workforce would then be based in Loughborough.

Jonathan Jorgensen, chief sales officer for The Access Group, told the Loughborough Echo: “We are a very fast growing company and are expanding all the time, so the vision is to have an East Midlands Hub at the Loughborough site.

“This will encompass staff already at the Loughborough office, and staff currently based in Lockington near East Midlands Airport, but it will also mean we will create around 500 new jobs.

“We are looking at also incorporating the Leicester office into the new offices in Loughborough but we are not certain about this yet.

“These jobs will not just be for new graduates from Loughborough University, they will be for anyone who is interested in working in the software industry, and who has the skills and desire to learn about the group.

“We have seen a lot of success from people who had decided to have a change of career and have started working with us when they are 30, 40 or 50 years-old.

“We already have some brilliant graduate programmes, but hopefully with such a good university on our doorstep I am sure we will benefit even more from this too.”
