LLEP Business Gateway supports TheBusinessDesk.com’s first business women’s lunch

The LLEP Business Gateway is proud to support TheBusinessDesk.com’s first Business Women’s Lunch in Leicestershire, which celebrates women in business.

At this event, business women will be able to network, learn and inspire one another. Jo Tallack, General Manager of Highcross Leicester is the key speaker and will be giving an overview of her career journey and ambitions for Highcross as a retail destination.

For women business owners and entrepreneurs across the city and county the LLEP Business Gateway, the Growth Hub for Leicester and Leicestershire, offers free business support, information and advice.

To date, 676 business women have made a business support enquiry with the Growth Hub, representing 37% of all business enquiries received.

There has never been a better time to benefit from the wide range of fully funded support and advice, with many schemes offering grant funding to develop and grow businesses. The Business Gateway strongly encourages more female business owners to take advantage of the free information, advice and support services currently available.

Many Leicestershire business women are employees. Emma Anderson is a director at national law firm Freeths and a LLEP Board Member. Emma said, “At a time when the gender pay gap is a significant issue – reportedly widening recently to 26.8% for women managers – and the glass ceiling remains in place, events like these are vital in helping professional women to develop and benefit from a collaborative and supportive network. It is up to us to do what we can to make a difference for the next generation of women coming through the ranks and seek to level the playing field.

“There is so much potential out there and it is up to us to do what we can to foster and harness that. We are very proud at Freeths of our Women in Business initiative which is aimed at having positive discussions about the issues facing women in the workplace today and how we can address them, as well as focussing on issues such as confidence, assertiveness and building and maintaining effective networks.

The Business Women’s Lunch is a great way to start that ball rolling and I am looking forward to hearing what Jo has to say and to finding out more about her career and the day-to-day challenges involved in doing her job.”
