Leicester grooming business lands Dragons’ Den investment

A family-run male grooming brand has secured investment in the Dragons’ Den.

The episode, which aired on 26 December saw the founders impress the Dragons with their personalities and range of products.

Mo Bro’s founders Keval Dattani, Kunal Dattani and Savan Dattani, entered the Den asking for £150,000 investment for 5% of their business.

When the opportunity came up to appear on the BBC Two show this year, they carefully considered it, finally deciding to take part just three days before the filming date.

After their pitch, four out of the five Dragons offered to invest, with Touker Suleyman only withdrawing because of an existing business conflict.

After deliberation, the brothers agreed a joint deal of £150,000 with Tej Lalvani and Peter Jones for 20% of the business, split equally.

Kunal Dattani said: “Being in the Den was an amazing experience for us, and we really enjoyed sharing our plans for Mo Bro’s with the Dragons. We’re thrilled to come away from the pitch with not one, but two Dragons on board, both of whom can add valuable advice, experience and contacts to our growing business.

“You prepare for all kinds of scenarios when you enter the Den, but I don’t think any of us thought we’d be in a situation where we’d come away with such a large investment!”

Savan Dattani added: “We were a bit nervous about being on TV at first but overall, it was just a fun experience.

“Filming the show was definitely interesting, we didn’t know what to expect and it’s an intense environment. Pitch prep took over our lives in those three days, so much so that we ended up pitching to the Dragons on just three hours sleep!

Kunal Dattani said: “With four out of the five dragons wanting to invest in us, it was definitely a clear validation that Mo Bro’s is an exciting business and that working with family can actually be an asset. I think the Dragons saw the synergy we have as brothers and business partners and it’s a real vote of confidence in us as founders that we had the interest we did.

“With the investment and support we’ve secured through Tej and Peter, we’re excited to grow Mo Bro’s into its next phase to ensure all men with facial hair have access to luxury, affordable products.”
