Car and van hire giant reveals plans for new Nottingham site

A car and van hire giant has submitted plans to redevelop a vacant city centre site in a move that could create 15 jobs.

The Scot Group, which owns the UK franchise for Thrifty Car and Van Rental has submitted plans to transform the former Sunwin car dealership site on Incinerator Road into a new branch.

The company operates a fleet of 17,000 vehicles from approximately 100 branches throughout the UK.

The plans include the construction of a 1,905 sq ft office and parking space for 220 vehicles. There would also be a wash bay for cars.

A planning statement submitted to Nottingham City Council reads: “The proposed use would provide an active economic use for this long-standing vacant site and its active use by a leading company would act as a catalyst for the regeneration of the area.”
