Energy strategy ‘crucial’ to Greater Lincolnshire’s economic growth

Securing enough energy for the future and managing water supplies is crucial if the Greater Lincolnshire economy is to grow.
That’s according to the Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership, which is leading on an energy and water strategy for the area and wants to hear the views of the business community and the public sector.
From now until Friday 21st September 2018 Greater Lincolnshire businesses can go online and have their say on future energy and water needs.
The LEP has received funding from BEIS (the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy) to develop an energy strategy which will link to the LEP’s Strategic Economic Plan and form one of the chapters of the emerging Local Industrial Strategy.
Following the survey, the LEP will stage a number of focus groups and one-to-one sessions with business people, especially those who attended the LEP’s first Utilities Summit in July last year.
“The LEP is taking a leadership role on the connection between the economic agenda and the landscape for energy and water,” said Andrew Brooks, who is leading the project for the Greater Lincolnshire LEP.
“The energy strategy will identify where the LEP can tackle some of these issues, but it will also identify where help is needed to take on bigger challenges and where local actors need to take steps to tackle issues closer to home.
“It’s very important for us to collect this data, as it will form an effective baseline from which we can properly articulate energy and water needs for the first time.”
