East Mids HMV staff discover their fate

Staff at HMV’s East Midlands stores are celebrating in the East Midlands after the region escaped the cull of 27 branches of the entertainment retailer, which was bought out of administration this morning.

HMV was bought by Canadian operator Sunrise Records, which vowed to keep 100 HMV stores open – but axe 27.

HMV entered administration for the second time this decade at Christmas. The closure plan will see some 455 people lose their jobs.
