Derbyshire Christmas pudding maker could be sold for £80m, say reports

Matthew Walker, the company which makes Christmas puddings in Derbyshire, could be sold, according to reports.

The 2 Sisters Food Group, which owns Matthew Walker, it looking to offload Matthew Walker to reduce its debt, according to Sky News.

Matthew Walker employs 120 people in Heanor. It was formed in 1899 by a farmer’s son and is the oldest Christmas pudding maker in the world.

Sky News says the company is likely to fetch around £80m and that Stamford Partners, which specialises in food and drink deals, has been appointed by 2 Sisters to handle the sale.
