Winding Up Petition against Notts County adjourned for second time

A Winding Up petition against Notts County over unpaid HMRC bills has been adjourned for a second time.

Judge Jones in the High Court this morning decided to give Magpies owner Alan Hardy more time to complete the sale of the club.

Judge Jones has adjourned the hearing until July 10th. It is the second time the hearing has been adjourned.

BBC Nottingham Sport has reported that Lloyd Tamlyn, who was representing the club, told the court that negotiations are continuing between two parties, and that the sale is expected to be completed within a month.

The news comes in the same week that Hardy spoke to TheBusinessDesk.com to try and allay fears over County’s future.

He said: ““I’d like to confirm that we are completely aware of our Companies House obligations.

“On the advice of our auditors, and in consideration of the imminent sale of the football club, we exchanged correspondence with Companies House back in early May and to that end I can confirm that we were granted an official extension of time both for Notts County FC and the Nottinghamshire Golf and Country Club.”

The sale of Notts County is expected to be completed soon, with a South African consortium thought to be close to closing a deal for the club. It is thought to be have been held up this week after a serious illness affecting deal broker Terry Pritchard of Charter HCP.

A statement from the Club said: “Notts fully understand supporters’ frustrations and concerns surrounding the club’s ownership situation but stress that strict confidentiality measures must be adhered to in order to ensure a deal is completed professionally and in line with all regulations.
