Danish consortium emerges as favourite to buy Notts County

A deal to sell Notts County could be finalised before Wednesday High Court deadline after sigificant developments over the weekend.

Reports suggest that a Danish consortium are set to bid for the Magpies after the previous front-runner, a group from South Africa, pulled out.

Nottinghamshire Live said the Danish have “significantly” ramped up preparations to buy Notts County ahead of the club’s date in the High Court this Wednesday (10 July) over an unpaid tax bill, which could see it wound up.

TheBusinessDesk.com understands that owner Alan Hardy is confident that the deal will be finalised before this deadline.

Two of the group are believed to be from a company called Football Radar, which provides football statistics to bookies.

A filing on Companies House suggests that Football Radar took a secured loan out with NatWest on 4 July – although this could be unrelated to any takeover of Notts. Football Radar’s directors are named as Alexander Reedtz and Christoffer Reedtz.

Meanwhile, the Magpies kicked off their pre-season matches on Saturday with a 2-0 away win at Nuneaton.

The same morning a planned protest took place outside Meadow Lane, where around 40 fans gathered – somewhat below the organisers’ expectations.
