A housebuilder has been given the green light to start its first development in the East Midlands.

Countryside, which recently opened an office in Leicester, has begun work on 160 homes at its The Boulevard scheme, which forms part of Urban & Civic’s Middlebeck masterplan; a 694-acre urban expansion on the south edge of Newark.

Glyn Mabey, managing director at Countryside Partnerships East Midlands, said: “Having only recently launched our East Midlands office, the start of this development is an extremely important and exciting milestone for Countryside. This new scheme not only promises to deliver high quality homes, but will play an instrumental role in the area’s transformation into a brand new residential community. Whilst also creating employment opportunities for local people and improving commuter links. This is an initiative that we’re very proud to be a part of.”

Richard Coppell, development director for Urban & Civic, master developers for Middlebeck, said: “We are delighted to welcome Countryside to Middlebeck and add to the variety and choice of homes available here for house buyers. It is an exciting time for the project as we really scale-up housing delivery to complement the infrastructure we are putting in. We have a growing community of over 100 homes occupied and work underway to create green spaces, a community café and new primary school.”

The Boulevard showhomes are expected to launch in Spring 2020, with the first residents collecting their keys in July.
