Cash injection as residential development gets underway in Derbyshire

Work has begun on a residential development in the Derbyshire village of Hilton which will see nearly £1 million invested into the local area.

Bellway is constructing 45 two, three, four and five-bedroom homes at Mousley Park off Derby Road in the village.

South Derbyshire District Council approved outline plans for the 6.6-acre site last year and granted reserved matters permission in July.

As part of the planning agreement, Bellway will invest more than £102,000 in Hilton Primary School and over £176,000 in John Port Spencer Academy in nearby Etwall.

£17,000 will be put towards the Wellbrook Medical Centre in Hilton and £25,000 will be invested in a pedestrian crossing on Derby Road.

£596,000 will go towards affordable housing provision, and further contributions will be made towards Hatton Village Hall and improvements at The Mease, the home of Hilton Harriers Football Club.

Bellway’s East Midlands sales director Carolyne Watkinson said: “With our detailed plans now approved for new homes at Mousley Park, work is now well underway on site.

“This is a lovely modern development from a five-star builder in a peaceful village setting.

“Nevertheless, Mousley Park is in a very convenient location, half-a-mile from the nearest supermarket and a seven-minute walk from the local primary school.”
