Hundreds evacuated after reports of gas leak in Nottingham city centre

Hundreds of office works and member of the public have been evacuated from Nottingham city centre after reports of a gas leak.
The leak was reported after gas was reported to be escaping in the Talbot Street area after maintenance works were carried out in the area.
Nottinghamshire Police are in attendance and there are severe delays on roads around Talbot Street, which has been cordoned off.
A statement from Nottinghamshire Police said: “Officers are currently in attendance in Talbot Street, Nottingham city centre, after reports of a gas leak in relation to maintenance works.
“A police cordon is currently in place with a number of road closures in the area. Properties nearby have been evacuated as a precaution.”
A spokesperson for Cadent, the gas distribution company, said they are working to fix the leak on a supply pipe.
