Mulholland vows to complete ‘unfinished business’ at EPM

Graham Mulholland

Derby entrepreneur Graham Mulholland has vowed to “never, never, never give up” after taking back control of his former EPM business last week.

Mulholland rescued the successor of his former company EPM Technologies by buying it, along with an investor, in a move that has saved 41 jobs.

Mulholland, who led EPM Technology for 21 years, joined with investor Andrzej Kurowski in buying the assets of its successor EPM Composites.

Now, he’s told TheBusinessDesk.com that he must hit targets and that he has unfinished business at the company.

He said: “The first thing we have to do is secure a bank account – and what an unbelievable unnecessary load of rubbish that’s been!

“Next, we have to secure the customer base hit the P&L forecast for the next three months at all costs.”

Mulholland said that cash generation is now high on his list of priorities. He added: “This will give the business breathing space and the foundation to push forward.

“We have a few unfinished things to prove and we’re linked to a number of high profile projects which are coming through.”

Mulholland also took a sideswipe at politicians for causing uncertainty for manufacturers.

He said: “We all need consistency and all the deadlock in Whitehall has created an environment of ‘what next?’

“I’d like to think today any politician who just says we’re getting out of the EU then we’re just going to be doing the same old same old would at least be been honest.

“The business world does not need grand plans from London we just need consistency and leadership. That will help us all and in time help manufacturing as we all have confidence again to buy stuff and we will all then regain momentum.”

When asked what his plan for EPM beyond the General Election is, Mulholland said: “We will work harder than all our competitors, give my team the tools to succeed provide world class parts and solutions to all our customers and never, never, never give up.”

EPM was supplying parts to four Grand Prix teams and makers of two Hypercars, and Mulholland Group will continue to work in those fields as well as looking to extend its reach much further.
