Splendour reveals headline acts

Supergrass

Splendour, the popular music festival organised by DHP Family and Nottingham City Council, has announced its first wave of headline acts.

Britpop heroes Supergrass, Mancunian perennials James and global pop icon Belinda Carlisle will all be performing at Wollaton Park on Saturday 18 July.

Supergrass, best known for their 1995 debut I Should Coco and a string of chart hits including “Caught by the Fuzz,” “Alright” and “Pumping on Your Stereo,” will headline the Main Stage alongside James, whose 1991 smash hit “Sit Down” needs little introduction.

Carlisle, who gained worldwide fame as co-founder and lead vocalist of all-female new wave rock band The Go-Go’s before embarking on a successful solo career, will headline the Confetti Stage.

George Akins, DHP Family owner, said: “As one of the biggest and best festivals in the East Midlands, each year thousands of people await the exciting news of who will feature in the line-up. We’re over the moon to welcome Supergrass and international superstar Belinda Carlisle to Splendour for the first time ever, plus James returns with what will no doubt be an epic set. With last year’s event selling out in record time, don’t hesitate in purchasing your ticket.”

Cllr David Trimble, portfolio holder for leisure, culture & IT, added: “This July, we look forward to once again having some of the UK’s top musical talent descend on our beautiful Wollaton Park, as Splendour returns for another year. The festival is truly one of the highlights of a summer in Nottingham, and with the £10 discount for residents it’s no surprise that the festival remains such a popular part of our annual events programme.”
