Bridge defect closes A52 in Nottingham

The A52 eastbound remains closed over Clifton Bridge in Nottingham this morning after steel defects were found yesterday afternoon.

Westbound has a single lane closure, meaning long delays during this morning’s rush hour.

A statement from Highways England said: “Traffic is expected to be heavy as a result. Please plan your journey accordingly.”

If travelling towards this area from much farther afield, delay information will remain visible on Highways Englands’ on-road variable message signs until delays have cleared.

The diversion route guidance is as follows:

From the A52 Queens Drive Interchange, take the exit onto the A453 towards the city centre. Follow the A453 until at the signalised junction with A6019, take a right turn onto the A6019 Waterway Street. Continue on the A6019, turning left onto Sherriff’s Way, then right onto Queen;s Road. At the T junction, turn right onto the A60, crossing the River Trent. At the signalised junction with Melton Road, take the left fork onto the A606 through West Bridgford, to rejoin the eastbound A52 at Wheatcroft Island.
