On the move: the latest East Midlands hires

The UK Meds team

Nottingham-based online pharmacy UK Meds has further reinforced its commitment to patient safety by appointing experienced advanced clinical practitioner Shaeeb Ali as its clinical lead pharmacist and chief clinical officer.

Ali, who worked in the Bradford area before moving to Nottingham, has 10 years’ experience working in GP surgeries.

He said: “I’ll be making improvements to and reviewing our current systems on the website, developing existing systems and infrastructure, and looking into new and innovative ways of engaging with patients.

“I will also be working more closely with the prescribers, becoming both a referral point and mentor to them, as well as bridging between the pharmacy and customer service side of the business. Part of my role could be summed up as clinical governance, ensuring patient safety and appropriate training provision to mitigate any potential risks.”

Elsewhere, the me&dee charity has appointed a new member to its Board of Trustees.

Craig Barker, managing director of Koobr, a creative agency based on Friar Gate in Derby,j oins the board following many years of support and involvement.

Craig Barker and Maria Hanson MBE

me&dee was founded by Maria Hanson MBE in 2006. It supports families and children facing uncertain and life-limiting circumstances, providing special holidays to create memories and make the most of the precious time they have left together.

Barker said: “Part of our mission statement at Koobr is to make a positive difference to the Koobr team, to our customers and to the wider community. Working with me&dee is part of this and long may it continue. We’ve been an avid supporter of Maria and the charity for many years, and as we’ve grown as a business, we’ve made sure that our support of the charity has too.

“I am proud and honoured to have been invited to join the Board of Trustees and I look forward to helping the charity continue to go from strength to strength. I’m going to do all that I can to encourage other businesses to consider ways that they can become involved in the charity – packages start from as little as £20 a month so it really is easy to get involved. For Koobr, this support is a no-brainer and we encourage all businesses to get involved in some way. Anyone can give something, anyone can make a difference!”
