Leicestershire brewing giant Everards has entered into a new partnership with Leicester City Hockey Club which will help support the redevelopment of the Club’s home at St Margaret’s Pastures.

Everards has a long history of supporting local sport through sponsorship, and can name the Leicester Riders, Leicester Squash Club and the Leicester Tigers amongst the roster of Clubs it supports.

Leicester City Hockey Club, which moved to the St Margaret’s site in Leicester city centre last year, is currently carrying out an ambitious project to upgrade its pavilion to include an additional floor, changing facilities and a café and licenced bar.

A top-level waterbase pitch and additional five-a-side football pitches will also be added to the site, with work expected to be completed in April 2020.

Stephen Gould, managing director at Everards, said: “We are extremely pleased to support the growth of this premier community sports venue and look forward to a long-term relationship, we are proud to add Leicester Hockey Club as another local sports partnership.”

The St Margaret’s Pastures development is part of the continuing rejuvenation of the Leicester Canal route.

Sarah Treanor, vice president development at Leicester City Hockey Club, said: “We want to offer a place for everyone to enjoy, and one of the main aspects of this is through the café/bar. The support from Everards is immensely positive for our development and for the club and we look forward to seeing our relationship strengthen in the coming years.”
