New hotel plans for Leicester get green light

Plans to turn the former Constituional Club on Pocklingtons Walk in Leicester city centre have been given the go-ahead.

The City Council has given Ray Harminder the green light to turn the listed building in a 38-room venue.

The plans outline turning the northern section of the building into hotel. There will be 14 rooms on the ground floor, 16 on the first floor and eight on the second floor. Reception will on the ground floor, whole laundry, office and a gym would be in the basement.

Leicester City Council planning chiefs said they supported the change of use. At statement read: “[This] will bring a listed building back into beneficial use without causing unacceptable harm to the building. The proposed hotel would be in a broadly suitable location, and although not entirely in accordance with the policy the exception is justified.”
