Managed IT services company bucks trend by creating jobs

Derby managed services firm Velez says it has enjoyed a strong start to 2020 – and, far from making redundancies and furloughing staff, is creating jobs.
The firm, headed up by chief executive Sean Price, has been recognised in recent months by industry analyst Gartner as one of the leading providers of third party hardware maintenance for enterprise organisations, and has seen a 46% increase in sales since the start of the pandemic.
Price told TheBusinessDesk.com: “Following a number of recent global contract wins in the USA and Asia, we have, in the last two weeks, had to increase staff headcount by adding three more employees – to add to the 10 new starters this year already – and have job offer letters out to further three Derby locals currentlym and no planned furloughs to date.”
With offices in the UK and overseas including its purpose-designed office space for 60 staff at its Derby office, Price says the firm is set to continue the growth post Covid-19.
He added: “Whilst we have applied for SBBR we have yet to hear anything after three weeks from Derby City Council. With no intentions of applying for the CBIL at the moment we are aware that the speed of processing these are no where near quick enough to support business needs.
“Cashflow is without a doubt the most difficult part of this for businesses. While the government has put help out there, the access and speed to bring this into businesses is too slow.”
