Four East Midlands venues are to close as part of a wider jobs cull after Casual Dining Group called in administrators.

Some 1,900 of the company 6,000 staff have lost their jobs immediately.

Casual Dining Group owns the Bella Italia, Belgo, Cafe Rouge and Las Iguanas brands – among others – and the job losses come amid another brutal week for the high street.

The following East Midlands sites will close:

– Belgo, Nottingham
– Bella Italia , Loughborough
– Cafe Rouge, Leicester
– Las Iguanas, Derby

Casual Dining Group said in a statement: “Given that all offers received for the business envisage a reduced restaurant estate, the administrators have taken the extremely difficult decision to permanently close 91 restaurants with immediate effect.

“Regrettably, this will mean that there will be a number of redundancies across the group.”
