Two prestigious Derbyshire schools merge

Two Derbyshire schools, Foremarke Hall and Repton School, have merged to form Repton.

The two schools will provide education between the ages of 3 and 18.

Repton headmaster, Mark Semmence, will have over-arching responsibility for the whole school as CEO, while Robert Relton, headmaster at Repton Prep will retain responsibility of the Prep.

Semmence said: “Both Schools have historically shared links with each other however, the merger now strengthens those even further. Working together will allow them to continue to pursue excellence, provide a seamless high-quality education and pioneer our deep-rooted values.”

The two schools’ operations will run in parallel to each other with pupils at Repton Prep being entitled to a place at Repton School from 13.

Opened as Repton Prep in 1940, Foremarke Hall is reverting to its original name, in this its 80th anniversary year.

Chairman of governors, Mark Shires, added: “This is an exciting moment in Repton’s history and delivers a clear statement of our unwavering commitment to provide the very best modern education for our pupils, from pre-prep to pre-university.”
