‘Asian KFC’ to create 70 jobs in Nottingham

A Filipino mutlinational chain of fast food restuarants is set to open a new restaurant in a landmark Nottingham city centre building.

Jollibee, which has been described as the “Asian KFC”, sells fried chicken, spaghetti and burgers from around 1,200 outlets worldwide, is set to move into the long-derelict 46-48 Clumber Street building, in a move which will create 70 jobs.

The Nottingham restaurant will be only the company’s fourth UK outlet. It also has sites in Earls Court and Liverpool and in September announced it is opening in the former Select unit on Humberstone Gate.

Metro Bank had earmarked plans to open at into 46-48 Clumber Street in Nottingham, but shelved the move last year.

A spokesperson for Metro Bank told TheBusinessDesk.com at the time: “We remain committed to bringing the banking revolution to Nottingham and hope to be able to open a new store there shortly.”
