Motor specialists report transformational year

Lincoln-based Dack Motor Group (DMG) is ending 2020 on a high, with its service department reporting 100% growth against January turnover.

The news comes after several senior appointments as well as a new van workshop being installed, which is now servicing more than 500 vans per month.

Phil Kelsey, managing director at DMG, said: “We’re so pleased with the improvements we’ve made this year and it’s all the more significant considering the bleak year everyone is having due to the current Coronavirus restrictions.

“What’s worked for us this year has been focusing on skills and thanks to a big skill development push, we have become more efficient at what we do so we can see more opportunities within a month.”

DMG has also seen an increase in 1- to 3-year-old vehicles also in need of servicing. The group serviced around 200 of these newer age vehicles in October, compared to just 31 back in January.

Kelsey added: “This particular statistic and increases in customer postcode areas shows that our workshop is becoming more of a natural choice in the region. We’re seeing more vehicles of a younger age, which shows that customers who usually go to main dealers are actually starting to be more open minded about independent specialists like ourselves.

“Many, if not all of the main dealers closed during the first national lockdown, but we remained open. It gave the customers an opportunity to look elsewhere and experience what the service is like at businesses like ours.

“Being there for our customers has no doubt given us the edge over competitors but has also allowed us to develop our staff over this time too.”
