New Broadmarsh site design promises ‘enormous opportunity’ for Nottingham

Another proposed design for the derelict Broadmarsh shopping centre site in Nottingham city centre has been revealed.

Josef Stöger, a UCL graduate, says the demolition of the mall creates an “enormous opportunity” for the city, and his designs offer Nottingham “a chance to propel the city to a green a community-focused era”.

Stöger, an architect and designer based in Nottingham, says he believes the power of technology “can be harnessed in order to bring the human civilisation closer to nature”.

On his designs for the Broadmarsh site, he said: “It will be a gateway to the city of Nottingham providing housing, an open-air performance space, parks and vertical farming.”

Stöger’s proposition is the latest in an ongoing “Big Conversation” around the site, which was handed back to Nottingham City Council following the collapse of intu last summer.
