Plans for controversial student scheme get backing of city planners

How the revised designs look

Revised plans to build a 40-bed student accommodation scheme on the site of a Nottingham city centre pub have been given the backing of planning bosses at the city council.

They have given the nod for the scheme to be granted planning permission by committee when they sit next Wednesday (July 21).

The scheme has received criticism from locals who had mocked the designs by architecture firm Cordage.

Revised plans show significantly-changed designs for a five-storey building of studio flats aimed at the student market.

The planning application has been brought forward by Punch Pubs, which wants to knock down the Nottingham Legend venue, next to the National Ice Arena.

There will also be space to store 40 cycles.
