Accountancy practice reveals plans to share new offices with law firm

How the new offices will look

Accounting and business adviser, Duncan & Toplis, is set to share its proposed 10,000 sq ft office in Louth with a local law firm.

Construction is set to begin on the development which will include offices for Duncan & Toplis and legal firm, Wilkin Chapman Solicitors.

The project will see a contemporary, open-plan office space built over two floors and a 53-space car park.

When completed, the office will be available for use by all Duncan & Toplis team members as part of the company’s new flexible working policy, which enables individuals to work from locations of their choosing, including offices which are closer to their homes or closer to clients. The new office will replace the company’s existing premises in Louth town centre.

Since the proposals were first put forward in 2019, it’s been agreed that Wilkin Chapman Solicitors will occupy the first floor of the building, relocating its Louth office to the new premises.

The new office is being built by Lincolnshire-based contractor, Stirlin Developments and it is expected to be completed by Autumn of 2022.

Adrian Reynolds, managing director at Duncan & Toplis said: “The construction of new premises is a major undertaking which requires careful planning and consideration. Since the start of the pandemic, these decisions have become even more important as we prepare for a post-pandemic world where we all have the opportunity to redefine and improve many aspects of the way we live and work.

“We’re very excited to be making this major investment in the Louth area, reaffirming our commitment to the town and its businesses at this important time. The site will serve as a workplace for team members local to Louth or supporting organisations in the area, in line with our new, flexible working policy.

“We’re making great efforts to make Duncan & Toplis into an even better place for all our team members and the improved facilities the new development will afford will help us toward that goal. We’re also very pleased to have Wilkin Chapman join us in the new offices, ensuring that the building fulfils its potential as soon as it’s completed.”

Duncan & Toplis has 11 offices across Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire. The company was founded in 1925 and it has had an office in Louth since 2007. The company has over 400 staff.

Proposals for Duncan & Toplis’ Louth development were approved by East Lindsey District Council in 2019 and although it was hoped that construction could begin the same year, the plans were delayed by the Covid-19 pandemic. Since then, the company says it has reevaluated plans for how it would use the space to ensure that the project will have long term value and that the development will be sustainable given the rise of remote working.

For Wilkin Chapman Solicitors, the office move is part of a bigger, strategic development with the recent appointment of CEO, Robin Simmonds.

Andrew Holt, senior partner of Wilkin Chapman Solicitors said: “We are really excited for this opportunity for both businesses to relocate to a new office that will provide a modern and vibrant environment, for our respective clients and team members alike. We are also delighted to announce the relocation of our current Louth office to new build premises on the Fairfield Industrial Estate. It is great to be able to make a very real, tangible continued commitment in Louth and the Lincolnshire Wolds area.”
