Share buy-out at marketing agency as duo take control

Matt Wheatcroft, Rob Marshall and Tim Lenton

Marketing agency Purpose Media has announced the retirement and share buyout of Rob Marshall, one of its three long-standing directors.

Founded in 2008 by Matt Wheatcroft, Tim Lenton and Rob Marshall, the South Normanton agency is now entirely held by Wheatcroft and Lenton, after Marshall’s shares were bought out for an undisclosed sum following his retirement.

Some 13 years ago, Purpose Media started out as an e-commerce and digital marketing agency in the centre of Mansfield, before acquiring its first bricks-and-mortar office 8 months later. The business has since acquired video agency A-Star Media, and the assets of Derby-based design agency Revolver and now employs 30 staff.

Under the stewardship of Wheatcroft, Lenton and Marshall, Purpose Media secured a number of major clients over the years, including True Refrigeration, Rivus Fleet Solutions and East Midlands Chamber. The agency still has ambitions to grow further and is in demand for its creative services.

Marshall said: “I have really enjoyed working with the team at Purpose Media over the years and I am proud of the agency’s achievements during my time as a director.

“Collectively, we have grown and developed Purpose Media in to an award-winning, forward-thinking marketing agency that is well regarded in the region. I’d like to thank the employees, both past and present, for all of their support”.

Wheatcroft added: “On behalf of Tim and our whole team, I would like to thank Rob for his contribution and commitment to the agency over the years, and we wish him all the best in his retirement.

“We are proud of the journey Purpose Media has made over the past 13 years, growing from a small web agency to the 30-strong team it is today. We are excited to see what the next chapter holds for the agency.”
