775 jobs take a step closer after major logistics schemes given planning approval

How Mulberry's scheme will look

Plans for a new pallet storage and distribtion centre in Derbyshire that could create 775 jobs have been given the go-ahead.

Developer Mulberry has been given the green light by South Derbyshire District Council to build the 610,000 sq ft scheme at the former Bison Precast Concrete site off the A514 in Swadlincote.

The development will have space for 244 lorries, almost 300 cars and will have 17 electric vehicle charge points.

Forterra have stopped operations at the site, ready for Mulberry to start the site clearance.

Mulberry said the scheme will be the one of the largest employment sites in the area and will “breathe new life” into Swadlincote following the closure of the concrete factory.
