Multi-vehicle collision closes M1 northbound

The M1 northbound in Leicestershire is closed from J23A (East Midlands Airport) to J24 due to a multi-vehicle collision.

Emergency services are at the scene along with National Highways Traffic Officers who are assisting with traffic management.

A diversion route is in place for traffic travelling northbound.

Road users are advised to follow the Solid Square diversion symbol on road signs.

For traffic travelling northbound:

– Exit the M1 at J23A.
– Take the slip road onto the A42 free flow lane to the A42/A453 Finger Farm Roundabout.
– Take the third exit onto the A453 southbound.
– Continue along the A453 southbound to M1 J24 interchange.
– At the interchange take the second exit onto the M1 northbound.
