Nottingham entrepreneur set for bigger stage after landing funding

Nottinghamshire entrepreneur Thomas Wyman has secured a £15,000 Start-Up Loan from First Enterprise – Enterprise Loans through the Start-Up Loans Scheme backed by British Business Bank to offer performances to premium events.

The Rockets Collective is an entertainment company providing entertainment for weddings, corporate events, functions, and parties across the UK and internationally.

Owner, Wyman, provides hand-picked, musicians and technicians from across the UK to perform at each booking.

The events industry was severely impacted causing events to be cancelled and postponed due to COVID-19. As well as this, the business struggled to expand due to not being able to transport extra equipment to shows.

With support offered by First Enterprise – Enterprise Loans Wyman will buy a new van, lighting equipmen, and promotional material.

He said: “Thanks to the support from First Enterprise – Enterprise Loans, I can take my business to the next level by investing in marketing – whilst improving the quality of our performance with new equipment and transport. Nabeel was very diligent when working on my application and provided help every step of the way.”

Nabeel Akhter, business adviser at First Enterprise – Enterprise Loans, added: “With restrictions now lifted and events back in full swing and thanks to the funding we provided, The Rockets Collective is perfectly geared up to provide quality entertainment.

“What I liked about the business model is that it offers a fantastic variety of excellent artists which can be suited to fit the clients taste. I have every confidence that the business will succeed and wish Thomas all the best.”

Richard Bearman, managing director Small Business Lending, British Business Bank said: “The COVID-19 pandemic hit so many businesses hard within the events and entertainment industries so to see The Rockets Collective back on its feet and pushing forward with plans and expansion is exactly why these loans are available to businesses. The British Business Bank is pleased to see Thomas and his business thrive and we look forward to seeing this continued success.”
