Renowned East Midlands tax expert launches new venture

Simon Browning

One of the East Midlands’ best known tax experts has launched a new venture.

Simon Browning, who previously led the Nottingham office of national accountancy group UHY Hacker Young before spending two years as a tax partner at RSM UK, has established Bright Advisory in order to “spend more time with businesses and their owners.”

The firm, which Browning will co-direct with his wife Angela, will provide advice on personal and corporate tax, transactions, family wealth and business strategy and serve as a “sounding board” for businesses looking to “plan ahead and save money through sensible tax planning.”

Posting on LinkedIn, Browning said: “It’s time for a change! After almost 25 years of working in some of the best accountancy firms in the country, I have decided to take a step into the unknown and set up my own tax advisory business. I am eternally grateful to the firms I have been a part of and the numerous people who have helped, supported and developed me along the way (too many to mention but you know who you are!).

“So much has changed in recent years and I feel that now is the time to put myself out there and make myself available to individuals and business owners who would benefit from my experience and advice. Whatever challenges you or your clients are facing (preparing for sale, handing the business onto the next generation, incentivising management teams, setting up new businesses, family tax planning, etc) please do not hesitate to give me a call or send me an e-mail.”

Browning joined UHY Hacker Young in 2014 as managing partner before making the move to RSM in 2020.

He previously held senior roles at BDO and Deloitte.
