Green light for 406-flat student scheme

How the scaled-down scheme will look

Plans to build 406 student flats next to Nottingham Railway Station have been passed by the city council’s planning committee.

The application for the scheme, on Queens Road, was passed with one objection recorded from councillor Kevin Clarke on Wednesday afternoon (December 21).

The plans were a scaled back version of a much larger planned scheme that also included two buildings containing a total of 238 Build to Rent (BTR) apartments – one of which would reach 22 storeys in height.

The removal of the two BTR buildings (phase 2 of the scheme) will allow phase 1 to move forward whilst a more detailed review of the design for these buildings, and the London Road Tower in particular, is carried out to address the concerns raised by committee.

It is thought that developer MRP will submit a new planning application for phase 2 in early 2023.
