On the move: the latest East Midlands hires

The Inaphaea BioLabs team

Nottingham life sciences firm ValiRx has welcomed three new hires to its newly incorporated subsidiary company Inaphaea BioLabs.

Headquartered in MediCity Nottingham, Inaphaea offers pre-clinical and drug discovery testing services to academic, biotech and pharmaceutical researchers, forming the foundation of ValiRx’s tCRO™ (translational Contract Research Organisation) strategy.

Dr Andrew Carnegie has been appointed as head of strategic commercial development for the company, while Melissa Barr and Dr Dominic Lowen have joined as lead scientist and senior scientist.

ValiRx CEO Dr Suzy Dilly said: “After a great deal of hard work by the entire ValiRx team, I am really pleased to announce the official formation of Inaphaea BioLabs, which represents the first step of our longer-term ambition to create a unique tCRO service offering for early-stage drug development. Over the next few weeks, we intend to transfer our own projects into the Inaphaea laboratories to continue their progress.

“I’m also delighted that Andrew has come on board on a permanent basis to support the initiation of service provision through Inaphaea, having supported us through our commercial advisory board over the past year. With the appointments of experienced scientists Dominic and Melissa, we are already well on our way to building a first-class scientific team, and the operational team will continue to grow as activity increases.”

Nottingham digital agency Hallam has made a pair of promotions in its Paid Media team.

Jack Brown, head of Paid Media at Hallam, said: “These promotions will see Molly and Alex moving into managerial roles, where they’ll join me on the paid media leadership team. It’s a big step for our team that sets us up to deliver even better work for our clients by creating two teams of specialists, constantly progressing, planning and exploring how to grow their clients’ businesses.”

Brown added: “Molly and Alex are both experienced and capable leaders; after seeing them successfully lead their specialisms through tough economic conditions, this promotion is thoroughly well deserved.”

Watters said: “I’m loving my new role because I can bring my media planning background to the forefront, ensuring my team are up-skilled in the different areas of paid media, too. Growing our existing clients, creating partnerships with other media agencies and diversifying the media mix for the brands we work with is very rewarding, as is working with and developing such a driven and enthusiastic team.”

Jackson added: “My promotion to Paid Media team lead will not only let me support the team across all paid channels, but I’ll also be able to build and help nurture my team’s growth. I’m thankful that Hallam has the infrastructure in place to enable my development and growth in the past 18 months.”
