Law firm reveals role in £18.5m funding round

A Nottingham law firm has revealed its role in a deal which has seen a London firm land an £18.5m funding boost.

Tympa Health Technologies, the company which specialises hearing and ear health, has secured the finance in Series A Funding from Octopus Ventures, with the help from Shakespeare Martineau.

With this funding round, Tympa Health Technologies is growing its team and services in the UK, across Europe and entering into the US.

“Our goal is to make ear and hearing healthcare easily accessible to everybody, on a global scale,” said Dr Krishan Ramdoo, founder and CEO of Tympa Health Technologies.

He added: “Putting the right technology and support into the hands of more healthcare professionals and community providers is the best possible place to start. The Tympa Platform has proven its benefits at every point in the healthcare value chain and with our new funding, we can expand that value to new partners and markets.”

The Tympa Platform allows a much broader range of professionals to perform digital otoscopy, microsuction wax removal, and hearing assessments. Tympa’s examination is digitally captured in a single hearing health record, which can be shared between patients, providers and specialists.

Roger Harcourt, partner at Shakespeare Martineau, led the deal. He said: “We are delighted to have been able to support Tympa since its inception and particularly in this significant funding round. The company’s innovative approach to ear and hearing health services has the potential to significantly improve patient outcomes around the world. It’s great that they will now be able to introduce their technology to a global market.”

The Shakespeare Martineau team included partners Roger Harcourt and Peter Mayhew.
