Shortest flight delays in UK at East Midlands Airport

East Midlands Airport (EMA) has been named as having the shortest flight delays in the UK.

EMA passengers were, on average, delayed by just 13 minutes per departing flight, according to the Civil Aviation Authority data which was analysed by PA News.

The worst airport for delays is Birmingham, at 30 minutes per departing flight.

An East Midlands Airport spokesperson told TheBusinessDesk.com: “The CAA’s report covers a year in which the entire aviation sector began a recovery in very challenging circumstances following its biggest ever crisis. The results for East Midlands Airport are testament to the hard work and dedication of the team here who, last summer, pulled out all the stops to provide the best possible service to passengers, many of whom had not flown for a number of years due to the pandemic.

“As passenger numbers continue to edge closer to pre-Covid levels, we are committed to ensuring all customers who use the airport this year have the best possible start to their trips.”

CAA head of consumer Anna Bowles said: “Our data tells us that too many passengers faced disappointing levels of delays across UK airports last year.

“It is important consumers experience a high-quality service from both airlines and airports this year.

“We expect airlines to proactively provide passengers with information about their rights when flights are disrupted.”
