On the move: the latest East Midlands hires

Laura Pain

Laura Pain has become an equity partner at Mitchells Chartered Accountants and Business Advisers – the first female equity partner in the company’s 155-year history.

A Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA), Pain has been with the Chesterfield-based accountancy firm since 2008 and became an associate partner in 2021. She now joins fellow equity partners Tim Leeman, Tony Hornsby and Andrew McDaid in leading the business.

She said: “Becoming an equity partner coincides with my fifteenth year with the firm, making it an incredibly special milestone for me. I am honoured to be the first female equity partner at Mitchells Chartered Accountants and Business Advisers.

Leeman said: “Tony, Andrew and I are delighted that Laura is now an equity partner. Her experience and passion for the business and clients is very much valued and will be instrumental in helping us grow the business further.”

Pain added: “I look forward to contributing to the continued growth and success of Mitchells in the years to come.”

A Derby accountancy firm has added to its team with the appointment of a new client manager.

Maliha Hasan

Maliha Hasan has joined Vibrant Accountancy after spending more than 10 years with Pro Tax Plus Accountants in Ipswich.

“I love the energy and passion that working for Vibrant Accountancy brings,” said Hasan, who is an MAAT member, ACCA finalist and Xero advisor.

“Since joining the company, I have learned so much – and I’m keen to learn more.

“I had previously worked hybrid and it didn’t suit me; I am full-time in the office at Vibrant Accountancy and the atmosphere is just great.

“I get pleasure from making customers happy, and I am looking forward to doing more of that with Vibrant.”

Vibrant owner Bev Wakefield says that Hasan is “a ray of sunshine” who brings with her a wealth of experience.

“We are absolutely delighted that Maliha has joined Vibrant Accountancy and, with her, she brings knowledge of accountancy as a whole, and, something that is important to me, mentoring,” said Bev, “she has bags of experience which will benefit our clients and she compliments our team perfectly.”

Hasan’s appointment takes the Vibrant team to nine, with a tenth member due to be appointed soon.
