Geldards reveals new partner

Jay Atubra

Law firm Geldards has appointed partner Jay Atubra to head up the firm’s networks team following the retirement of partner Jamie Gordon.

The Geldards networks team is one of the country’s largest specialist legal providers of volume property solutions for the utilities sector. Atubra will be leading a team of over 40 legal colleagues who work with electricity operators, water suppliers and gas transporters, as well as fibre-optic broadband utilities network providers.

Atubra joins from Knights where she was partner in the asset management team and brings with her a wealth of commercial property and utility experience.

Jamie Gordon will be stepping back following 20 years leading the networks team. An experienced property lawyer, he joined Geldards in 1996 to establish the firm’s property practice in Nottingham before growing the networks team to become the successful and market leading force it is today. He remains at Geldards in a consultancy role.

Atubra said: “I am delighted to be re-joining Geldards, I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the firm earlier in my career and am thrilled to be following on from Jamie to continue the success of the networks team. Geldards and Jamie have built a successful and highly specialist team and I look forward to continuing the development of our specialist connections service that is such a critical factor to all our clients.”

Jeff Pearson, chief executive, added: “We are pleased to welcome Jay back as our new head of networks, her breadth of experience and depth of knowledge are a real asset to the firm. The networks team has gone from strength to strength and Jay’s leadership will ensure we continue to offer a first class service to our utility clients.”
