90-year-old bakery faces uncertain future

A family run bakers based in Derbyshire has edged towards calling in administrators.

Jacksons the Bakers, which is based in Clay Cross has posted a notice of intention to appoint administrators via law firm Irwin Mitchell.

Jacksons was set up by Cyril Jackson in 1944 when it sold war-rationed bread. The firm is currently run by Phil and Emmajane Allen.

The firm has town centre shop and also supplies wholesalers, schools, cafes and restaurants.

According to its latest accounts, made up to the end of September last year, Jacksons employed around 55 people.
