MIPIM round-up: Uni joins up with Team Lincolnshire

The University of Lincoln has joined forces with the Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership (Greater Lincolnshire LEP), to be part of the public-private sector contingent ‘Team Lincolnshire’ to collaboratively promote and encourage investment into the region at international property event, MIPIM (15-18 March).

The University of Lincoln, which has around 14,000 students, announced last year a £130, investment programme to transform its campuses and provide additional facilities to support growth and education across Lincolnshire.

As part of that investment, the University has major plans for enhancing and creating high-tech teaching and learning spaces and research facilities, including a new science, technology and engineering building and the expansion of the National Centre for Food Manufacturing. All of these developments will be championed at MIPIM alongside the LEP.

John Plumridge, director of estates and commercial facilities at The University of Lincoln, said: “MIPIM is a major opportunity for us as it enables us to reach an international audience. It makes sense for the University to partner with the LEP and a strong team of private sector partners to work together to showcase what Greater Lincolnshire has to offer – to support not just the University’s offer but the area’s economic growth as a whole.

“The University is in a period of rapid growth so we have a great deal of product to showcase at MIPIM. Developments include the expansion of the Engineering Hub, the ongoing development of the Science and Innovation Park including further investment in the Joseph Banks Laboratories in partnership with Lincolnshire Co-op, the creation of a new School of Psychology and School of Health & Social Care facility, a 500-bed student accommodation complex and new landscaping and pedestrianisation works around the campus.

“In addition, the University is investing £30million to create the Isaac Newton Building – a landmark facility for science, technology and engineering disciplines which will expand the University’s award-winning Engineering Hub in collaboration with major local employer Siemens.

“We will be looking to meet investors at MIPIM but also raise awareness and understanding of Lincolnshire as an excellent place to live, learn, work and invest in.”
